2022 Kia Telluride Prices, Reviews, and Pictures

The Kia Telluride, a three-row SUV with a popular reputation, is very popular. It offers a great overall package, style, comfort, as well as exceptional value. A few minor updates are made to the 2022 Kia Telluride, including a new grille that features Kia’s logo and a larger screen for navigation. The rest of Kia’s most expensive and largest model is unchanged, and with good reason. The standard 291-horsepower V6 gives the vehicle an excellent performance. The suspension is well-tuned, giving it a smooth ride when carrying passengers or cargo. The interior of the Telluride is more expensive than its price, and comes with many standard safety features. The Telluride’s distinctive styling may not appeal to you. You might consider the Hyundai Palisade. Kia and Hyundai share the same engine, suspension and company. The Palisade is more conservative in its design and feature content. The Toyota Highlander is another popular option. It offers a spacious interior and strong safety technology. There’s also an optional hybrid model that can deliver excellent fuel economy. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L, a three-row version the rugged SUV midsize SUV, is a new model that offers unrivaled offroad capabilities and powerful engine options.

Trims and Pricing

There are four trim levels for the Kia Telluride: LX S EX EX and SX. All models can be ordered with front-wheel or all wheel drive. The latter is an additional $2,000 option. We recommend the S model, although the EX trim is the most popular. We will explain.

LX

The base LX model starts at $34,015, plus a $1225 delivery fee. It also includes a third row seat, an infotainment screen with a 10.25 inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity, automatic temperature control, and an infotainment system that has a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Exterior features include LED daytime running lights and heated power side mirrors that have integrated LED turn signals.

S

Our pick for value is the S model. It’s available for just $2,500 more (priced $36,515) and features include a sunroof with 20-inch wheels, power-adjustable driver seat, comfortable second-row captains chairs, and a power-adjustable driver seat. Exterior features include silver-finish roof rails and twin exhaust tips.

EX

The EX is priced at $39,015, and includes dual-zone climate control. It also features heated front seats, leather trim, wireless phone charging, wood accents, an auto-dimming rearview visor, and many other luxury options. Additional amenities include 20-inch wheels, LED lights, and captain’s chairs for the second row.

SX

Fully loaded SX models start at $43,915, which is a bargain considering that the top trims of rivals (such as the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot) cost thousands more. The SX model comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights and headlights, as well as stainless-steel door plates and 64-color ambient lighting. There is also a 10-way power driver’s chair with thigh support, seat-extension, and a 10-way power driver seat. The Telluride has a long list of driver assistance features, including blind-spot monitoring and front parking sensors. The Kia Sorento is an excellent choice for shoppers looking for a three-row SUV that’s family-friendly and doesn’t need the torque or towing capabilities of the Telluride.

Performance and Engine

Turbocharged four-cylinder engines are becoming more popular in this segment, but every Kia Telluride is powered a 3.8-liter V6. This makes it one the most powerful crossovers of its class. The SUV’s 291 horsepower engine is quick to get it off the line. There’s plenty of passing power available even when the Telluride is full loaded with passengers and cargo. The eight-speed automatic transmission optimizes fuel economy and does not compromise the engine’s response. It is larger than most of its competitors and has a 5,000 lb. The Kia’s towing capacity is impressive, but it doesn’t feel like an SUV from the driver’s seat. The Kia is car-like, and it can be maneuvered in tight spaces. It drives, steers, and brakes like a luxury sedan. This makes it calming behind the wheel, but not as fun to drive as the Mazda CX-9 and Ford Explorer ST.

Interior

The Telluride is expensive from the outside. The same thing happens inside the SUV. You don’t have to purchase luxury from a luxury manufacturer to enjoy the Telluride’s cabin. The interior of the Kia feels and looks upscale. Although the design is minimalistic and subtle, it feels warm and inviting. The seat comfort is excellent, with enough adjustment for tall and short drivers to find their ideal driving position. The cabin is spacious and intimate, yet it feels very spacious. It’s also built with the highest quality fit, finish and material quality. Our Telluride SX’s Nappa leather upholstery was buttery soft. There’s enough space for eight people with the second-row bench seat; seven with the captain’s chairs. The Hyundai Palisade is spacious and comfortable, while the Mazda CX-9 feels much smaller in the second row.

The Telluride has the largest cargo area in the class, and it is 8 inches longer than the three row Kia Sorento. It has 21 cubic feet more space than its rear seats. The volume can be doubled by folding the seats flat. The cargo volume can be expanded to 87 cubic feet when the second row is folded. The Chevrolet Traverse is the only vehicle that offers this much.
